FES Family: Winter Break

Posted Date: 12/19/25 (04:15 PM)

Good Afternoon, Amazing FES Families!

What a wonderful, wintery week it has been!  We are so proud of students' hard work in growing their mind, body, and character. Students have worked hard on the iReady Reading Diagnostic 2, and many students met their typical growth goal. Those who met their typical growth goal will be rewarded with an invitation to a donut party the week we return from Winter Break. We are so proud of their dedication to learning to set goals and learning how to meet goals, one page at a time. Students also wrapped up the last week of their Response to Extension and Intervention (REI) cycle and will begin a third REI cycle in January. REI groups will be based on data, which will include their iReady Reading Diagnostic 2 score.
This week, one student selected from each class, who exemplifies Positivity Project's, "Other People Matter: supporting others when the struggle" character strength, had the opportunity to paint a wintery scene with a snowman, alongside the Vice-Principal and Principal. Students are continuing to build character through Positivity Project lessons, and we could not be more proud.
When parents volunteer in classrooms, we ask that all volunteers prearrange with the teacher, check-in and sign-in in the office when they are on site, and spend their time volunteering inside the classroom, not on playgrounds. In addition, we know research demonstrates a high correlation between attendance and academic success, such as reading at grade-level, so we will continue to focus on various groups to support families with attendance. In doing so, we may even make a home visit to offer support. Please note that our goal is to work together to support all families with ensuring students are attending school. If you need anything, please do not hestiate to reach out to our office. Let us know how we can help your children be here everyday (unless they are ill, of course).
The FES Family Newsletter will go out as we get closer to our return date of January 5, 2026.  We hope your family enjoys this beautiful season and that happiness continues to surround our community. Thank you for sharing your children with us!
